The countdown is on — Trek for Amarli 2025 is just around the corner !
Whether you’ve been training for months or you’re a "last-minute legend", now’s the time to make sure your body, mind, and gear are ready for the big day.
Here’s your light-hearted but life-saving checklist to help you smash those kilometres while keeping blisters, dehydration, and gear disasters at bay.
🛠️ The Gear Checklist (Don’t Leave Home Without It)
Comfy Shoes – Broken-in, supportive, and blister-tested (no brand-new kicks on trek day — your feet will stage a protest). Need shoes ? Get them here with a discount from The Athlete's Foot
Breathable Socks – Merino wool or moisture-wicking blends. Double-layer socks can save you from the dreaded “hot spots.”
Hat + Sunglasses – Sun safety = happy trekker.
Lightweight Rain Jacket – Weather can be as unpredictable as your Spotify shuffle.
Backpack – Small enough to be comfy, big enough for snacks and water.
Snacks – Energy gels, muesli bars, trail mix… whatever fuels your stride.
💦 Hydration Hacks
Start Early – Begin drinking water the day before. Turning up already hydrated is your best defence against fatigue.
Sip, Don’t Skull – Little sips every 10–15 minutes > one giant gulp every hour.
Add Electrolytes – Tablets or powder can help replace what you sweat out (especially if it’s a warm day).
🧦 Sock & Blister Wisdom (From Those Who’ve Been There)
Layer Up – Two pairs of thin socks can reduce friction.
Tape It Before You Feel It – If you know where blisters usually form, pre-tape with sports or blister tape before starting.
Pack a Mini Kit – Bandaids, blister pads, and antiseptic wipes can turn a “limp” into a “march” real quick.

Charge your phone (photos or it didn’t happen).
